|Hawaiian #1 in Nationwide Airline Quality Study|
|HONOLULU – Apr. 2, 2007 - Hawaiian Airlines today was named the top-performing airline for 2006, according to the findings released by the 17th Annual Airline Quality Rating (AQR). |
The comprehensive study, conducted by the University of Nebraska at Omaha Aviation Institute and the Wichita State University School of Business, evaluated the nation's 18 largest carriers using a weighted average of 15 elements in four major areas important to consumers when judging quality airline services.

The 2006 study marked the first year Hawaiian was included in the AQR study. Hawaiian earned the top overall score, highlighted by the best on-time performance at 93.8 percent and the highest rating for mishandled luggage at 3.14 bags per 1,000 passengers compared to the industry rate of 6.50 bags per 1,000 passengers. Hawaiian also had the third-best score for denied boarding performance (avoidance of oversales) at 0.13 per 10,000 passengers compared to the industry average of 1.01. In terms of consumer complaints, Hawaiian had a rate of 0.64 complaints per 100,000 passengers, which was below the industry average of 0.88.
