Hawaiian #1 in Nationwide Airline Quality Study
HONOLULU – Apr. 2, 2007 - Hawaiian Airlines today was named the top-performing airline for 2006, according to the findings released by the 17th Annual Airline Quality Rating (AQR).

The comprehensive study, conducted by the University of Nebraska at Omaha Aviation Institute and the Wichita State University School of Business, evaluated the nation's 18 largest carriers using a weighted average of 15 elements in four major areas important to consumers when judging quality airline services.

Mark Dunkerley, Hawaiian's president and CEO, commented, “This is fantastic news. We work hard to provide the best airline service in America and I'd like to thank the employees of Hawaiian Airlines for making that happen.”

The 2006 study marked the first year Hawaiian was included in the AQR study. Hawaiian earned the top overall score, highlighted by the best on-time performance at 93.8 percent and the highest rating for mishandled luggage at 3.14 bags per 1,000 passengers compared to the industry rate of 6.50 bags per 1,000 passengers. Hawaiian also had the third-best score for denied boarding performance (avoidance of oversales) at 0.13 per 10,000 passengers compared to the industry average of 1.01. In terms of consumer complaints, Hawaiian had a rate of 0.64 complaints per 100,000 passengers, which was below the industry average of 0.88.

About Hawaiian Airlines

Hawaiian Airlines, holder of a record 36 consecutive months as America's most punctual airline from November 2003 through October 2006, consistently led the nation's carriers in on-time schedule performance and fewest misplaced bags in 2005 and 2006 (as reported by the U.S. Department of Transportation). Consumer surveys by Condé Nast Traveler, Travel + Leisure, and Zagat all rank Hawaiian as the top domestic airline serving Hawaii.

Now in its 78th year of continuous service in Hawaii, Hawaiian is the state's biggest and longest-serving airline, as well as the second largest provider of passenger air service between the U.S. mainland and Hawaii. Hawaiian offers nonstop service to Hawaii from more U.S. gateway cities than any other airline (nine), as well as service to Australia, American Samoa and Tahiti. Hawaiian also provides approximately 100 daily jet flights among the Hawaiian Islands.

Hawaiian Airlines, Inc. is a subsidiary of Hawaiian Holdings, Inc. (AMEX and PCX: HA). Additional information is available at HawaiianAirlines.com.
